In the Microsoft Build developer conference early April 2014 , Steve Teixeira from Microsoft introduced the concept of how the Windows operating system with a distinctive look nuanced boxes , can be used in future cars .
This concept is similar to the system developed by Apple CarPlay , a method of projecting what is on the screen iOS -based phone or tablet to the screen that shows the car information and entertainment system .
Microsoft wants to extend the functionality of the Windows smart phone or tablet that is projected onto the touch screen in the car . If this concept is realized , Microsoft will allow developers to create applications that are specifically designed for Windows in the car .

Of course , developers are encouraged to create applications with customized user interface with Windows , as well as radio feature , browsers , and digital maps made by Microsoft or Nokia . However , Teixeira did not say when that concept will become a reality .
Microsoft developed the concept of utilizing the MirrorLink standard connectivity , a akternatif which is also used in Apple CarPlay .
